Dual Fuel Engine
The Dual Fuel engine is a type of engine which uses a mixture of gas fuel or diesel fuel or can operate off of diesel by its self. The dual fuel engine is not capable of running on gas alone. These engines do not have ignition systems and do not use spark plugs.
Since the engine is not a pure diesel engine and diesel is not a pure gas, this equipment does suffer from Methane slippage and fuel efficiency. For instance, the fuel efficiency may be 5% to 8% less than in a comparable lean-burn, spark-ignited engine at 100 percent load. It could even be lower or higher loads.
Lift Truck Classification and Fuel Sources
There are some recycling materials handling applications which could prove really challenging for lift trucks. For example, scrap metal is amongst these issues. To be able to successfully handle items like this requires using the correct type of machine for the job.
There are 7 major lift truck classes, including power sources like liquid propane gas, hydrogen fuel cell, electric, gasoline and diesel. The power source is linked to several of these specific classes. The main power sources for forklifts comprise Diesel, Gasoline, Battery, Propane and Fuel Cell.
Electric powered trucks are the most popular, mainly Class I, II and class III forklifts. Internal combustion engines are more popular in Classes IV and V. The most popular electric power source is the lead-acid battery. Amongst internal combustion trucks, about more than 90 percent are powered by propane.
The battery is the forklifts most common power source. Battery fueled units make up roughly 60% of the new forklifts sold in the USA. Their benefits consist of: less maintenance requirements, quiet operation, the ability to be used inside and outdoors with no harmful emissions.
